Driving Scalable Fintech Innovation with Technology and Trust

In January 2026, India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) shattered records once again, processing a staggering 21.7 billion transactions worth ₹28.33 lakh crore in a single month, equivalent to moving trillions in value with seamless taps, scans, and clicks across the nation. From a roadside tea seller in Delhi accepting instant payment via QR code to a small business in a tier-3 town reconciling hundreds of fees effortlessly, this explosion of digital flows underscores a quiet yet profound shift in India’s  everyday commerce. At the forefront of architecting reliable, intelligent systems to power this scale stands Amit Tyagi, CTO and Director at SabPaisa.

With over two decades of expertise spanning enterprise technology architecture, digital platforms, and fintech innovation, Amit designs systems that handle massive volumes without compromising security or performance. His leadership philosophy is straightforward and impactful: technology exists to tackle real problems and generate genuine value for businesses and communities. At SabPaisa, he directs the technology roadmap for a unified digital payments platform that streamlines collections across diverse channels for organizations nationwide. Under his stewardship, SabPaisa continues to fortify its infrastructure and expand its influence within India’s dynamic digital payments ecosystem. In a conversation with Business Success Elites, he spoke about his journey, leadership, strategies, lessons learned, vision and much more.

Please walk us through your career trajectory and milestones that shaped the tech leader you are today?

Driven by curiosity and a genuine desire to create solutions that make a meaningful difference, my journey in technology began in core engineering and architecture roles focused on enterprise-scale systems and digital platforms. Those early years built a solid foundation in system design, scalability, and creative problem-solving. As I moved into leadership positions, I gained the opportunity to guide technology teams through large-scale digital initiatives. A defining milestone came when I joined SabPaisa, where the fast-paced fintech world demands constant innovation alongside the highest levels of security and reliability. Today, my focus remains on developing a unified, scalable payments platform that simplifies digital collections for businesses and institutions across India. The most rewarding part of this path has been building strong teams and platforms that deliver real, tangible impact.

Which experiences from your earlier roles most influence your leadership style today at SabPaisa?

Throughout my career, I have learned that effective technology leadership goes far beyond technical expertise. It requires clear vision, strong collaboration, and the ability to align technology directly with business goals. My earlier roles as a Technical Architect and Technology Head taught me the importance of designing systems with long-term scalability in mind, while also highlighting the power of empowering teams and encouraging innovation. At SabPaisa, my leadership approach is guided by three core principles: building technology that is scalable and future-ready, empowering teams to innovate and take ownership, and aligning technology strategy with business value and customer impact. When teams feel a true sense of ownership and purpose, innovation follows naturally.

What key strategies are you using as CTO to scale SabPaisa’s payments vision and capture the next phase of growth in India?

India’s digital payments ecosystem is growing rapidly, and scaling a fintech platform requires a combination of strong technology infrastructure and strategic partnerships. At SabPaisa, our technology strategy focuses on three key areas. We continuously strengthen our platform architecture to support rising transaction volumes while preserving reliability and performance. Trust remains fundamental in fintech, so our systems incorporate robust governance, advanced cybersecurity frameworks, and full regulatory alignment. Finally, we are building a unified payment ecosystem that integrates seamlessly with banks, institutions, and enterprise platforms, creating effortless payment experiences for businesses. Our ultimate goal is to make digital payments simpler, more efficient, and truly accessible for organisations across India.

What lessons from your career have shaped your belief in ethical tech that builds trust and enhances human well-being?

Technology today influences every aspect of our lives, and with that influence comes great responsibility. One of the most important lessons from my career is that innovation must always be guided by ethics and accountability. In fintech, users entrust platforms with their financial data and transactions, so maintaining that trust demands complete transparency, ironclad security, and responsible system design. I strongly believe technology should enhance human well-being, simplifying lives, empowering businesses, and opening new opportunities for growth while upholding fairness and integrity.

What are the biggest tech gaps you see in Indian fintech today, and how is SabPaisa tackling them?

India has made tremendous progress in digital payments, yet several challenges remain. One major gap is the fragmentation of payment systems, which forces businesses to manage multiple platforms for collections, reconciliation, and reporting. Another is the limited access to meaningful financial insights derived from payment data. At SabPaisa, we are addressing these issues by building a unified payments platform that simplifies collections while offering better visibility into financial flows. The next wave of fintech innovation in India will focus on faster transactions and intelligent ecosystems that truly empower businesses.
