Zomato-owned Blinkit has appointed Vipin Kapooria as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO), signaling a strategic push to bolster its financial operations as it expands in the competitive quick commerce market. Kapooria, who previously served as Vice President of Business Finance at Flipkart, brings over 16 years of expertise in finance and strategy, having also worked at companies like OYO and Yum! Restaurants in India.
This marks the first time Blinkit has had a full-time CFO since Amit Sachdeva, who held the role between 2019 and 2022. Kapooria’s appointment comes at a crucial time for Blinkit, as Zomato has underscored the growing importance of the quick commerce business, expecting it to soon surpass the core food delivery division in terms of significance.
As part of his role, Kapooria will work closely with Blinkit CEO Albinder Singh Dhindsa and Zomato CFO Akshant Goyal to steer the company’s financial strategy during a period of rapid growth. Blinkit, which is already a leader in the quick commerce space, is expanding its operations with initiatives like the launch of a new standalone app, Bistro, for 10-minute food deliveries. This move is designed to enhance Blinkit’s competitiveness against rivals like Zepto Café and Swiggy’s Instacafe/Bolt.
By adding a seasoned finance leader to its leadership team, Blinkit aims to further solidify its position in the rapidly growing quick commerce sector, while continuing to scale operations and improve efficiency.
