PBKS, in one of the lowest scoring IPL 2025 matches defeated KKR against 111runs. The team was knocked all out at 95, leading to a 16-run win for PBKS.
In spite of being bowled out in only 15.3 overs, Punjab’s bowlers displayed terrific grit. Yuzvendra Chahal spearheaded the attack with four wickets, followed by Marco Jansen with a combative spell, who took three wickets. KKR, in pursuit of what appeared to be a walk in the park, were placed comfortably at 62/2 before things turned haywire.
The breakdown—8 wickets for mere 33 runs—was down to tight lines, sharp fielding, and relentless pressure. Chahal’s variations and Jansen’s bounce overwhelmed Kolkata’s lower and middle order.
Punjab coach Ricky Ponting termed it “one of the proudest victories” of his career in the IPL. Punjab had lost to Hyderabad just three days before, unable to defend 246. The reversal is indicative of how unpredictable this format is—and how powerful a team becomes when they believe in themselves.
This victory not only earns PBKS important points, but also brings much-needed energy to their campaign. It is also a reminder that in T20 cricket, no target is too small if their bowlers have heart.
