Samer Abu-Ltaif has been named the new President of Microsoft for the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) area. He assumes this crucial position after Ralph Haupter leaves to become the new head of Microsoft Small, Medium Enterprises, and Channel Partners.

Abu-Ltaif, who has decades of experience in digital transformation, will concentrate on growing Microsoft’s presence in more than 120 regional markets. In an increasingly digital environment, he is dedicated to enabling clients and partners to fully utilize AI’s potential, fostering innovation and achieving long-term success.

As President for Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (CEMA) prior to this assignment, Abu-Ltaif bolstered Microsoft’s alliances, increased its regional presence, and added value to customers and partners across three continents.

Abu-Ltaif has been at Microsoft for 20 years, and during that time he has spearheaded innovative projects like the opening of Microsoft’s first datacenter in Africa in South Africa, as well as new datacenters in the UAE, Qatar, and Poland, and future facilities in Greece, Saudi Arabia, and Kenya. He also contributed to Microsoft’s $1.5 billion investment in AI through Abu Dhabi’s G42 and helped create the Microsoft Africa Development Center in Kenya.

Abu-Ltaif is also a strong advocate for workforce development, supporting important programs like Digital Heartbeat, AthkaU, TechDev, and Tomoh. Millions of people in the area now have the digital skills necessary to prosper in the contemporary economy thanks to these programs. His commitment to sustainability has also led him to collaborate with startups, corporations, and governments to help achieve local environmental objectives.

Under Abu-Ltaif’s direction, Microsoft’s strategy will be shaped for years to come by fostering creativity, teamwork, and digital transformation in the EMEA area.
