Deshnee Naidoo has been named the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Vedanta Resources, the parent company of Vedanta Ltd. in Mumbai. Having worked in the global resources industry for 27 years, Naidoo’s leadership is anticipated to take Vedanta into a new phase of development and growth.

Following a fruitful career as CEO of Vale Base Metals, a significant participant in the nickel and copper industries, Naidoo joins Vedanta. She had a substantial relationship with Vedanta from 2014 to 2020, where she held a number of high-level leadership roles, including CEO of Vedanta Zinc International and CEO of Africa Base Metals, before joining Vale.

Anil Agarwal, chairman of the Vedanta Group, praised Naidoo’s appointment and emphasized the well-timed nature of her leadership. “Deshnee joins us at a pivotal point in our adventure. We are now entering a new phase that will position us as a $100 billion firm, expanding globally in vital minerals, energy, and technology, following 25 years of expansion,” Agarwal said.

Vedanta Resources is rapidly changing and concentrating on expanding both domestically in India and internationally. Its Indian subsidiary, Vedanta Ltd., is actively acquiring important mineral blocks to expand its strategic portfolio while demerging its operations to unlock greater value for stakeholders.

Vedanta’s ambitious aim is anticipated to be expedited by Naidoo’s experience and competence, establishing the business as a leader in the global resources sector.
