The Mumbai Indians overwhelmed Sunrisers Hyderabad in an IPL 2025 thriller Wednesday. Chasing 163, the match went to the wire, but a sharp and opportune inning by Will Jacks placed them in the right position to win with 11 deliveries to spare.
With 162 in 5 wickets in mind, SRH chose to bat first with the bulk of the batsmen putting up low numbers. Mumbai bowlers, led by Gerald Coetzee and Jasprit Bumrah, bowled economical in the death overs and limited the score.
In a bid to overhaul 162, Mumbai had a weak beginning. Though the other runners in the team did their best to continue the run, the efforts of Jacks were exceptional, sustaining a good run pace.
As Mumbai continues to rise up the table, a step away from making the finals, SRH would need to bounce back and play well to keep them in the race.
There were updates in the Purple and Orange Cap races as some of the members of the two teams closed the gap to be among the top leaders as well. If the next matches are as nail-biting as their match, the remaining period of the tournament is going to be worth watching.
