Hyderabad, India – Chai Bisket, the creative force behind some of South India’s most compelling digital storytelling, has just raised $5 million in seed funding to launch its bold new venture — Chai Shots, a mobile-first microdrama OTT platform delivering premium fiction in bite-sized, 2-minute episodes.
The round was led by InfoEdge Ventures and General Catalyst, with participation from high-profile investors including actor Rana Daggubati, Swiggy’s co-founders, and Phanindra Sama of redBus.
Designed for Gen Z and Bharat-first audiences, Chai Shots offers a scroll-friendly, smartphone-native storytelling experience. Focused on regional languages and cultural authenticity, the platform’s first slate launches in Telugu, with plans to expand rapidly into other Indian languages.
Founded by Sharath Chandra and Anurag Reddy, and joined by Krishna Mohan Varma as the tech co-founder, Chai Shots is reimagining how Indian audiences consume fiction. With over a decade of storytelling experience, a 100+ member creative and production team, and deep cultural insight, the team is aiming to transform short-format content consumption across the country.
In a world where attention spans are short but the appetite for quality content is high, Chai Shots wants to become India’s go-to destination for premium, short-form storytelling — deeply local, ultra-personal, and on the go.
