Former captain of Indian team and past President of BCCI Sourav Ganguly was reinstated as Chairperson of the ICC Men’s Cricket Committee. Earlier this week, it was confirmed by the International Cricket Council that he was so appointed, upholding their faith in Ganguly’s cricketing wisdom and leadership.
Ganguly first assumed responsibility for the committee in 2021. He’s since been an active participant in guiding the direction of cricket—providing opinion on policy reforms, playing laws, and ensuring that the sport evolves to meet modern issues. His return follows with international cricket now in constant motion, particularly with increasing growth in franchise T20 leagues and an increasingly full global calendar.
Both his on-field determination and off-field lucidity have earned him respect. He brought equilibrium to the job by integrating contemporary cricket politics with long-standing cricket values. Under his first tenure, the committee guided major developments in regards to DRS application, over-rate regulations, and players’ workloads management across different forms.
In his announcement, the ICC Board hailed Ganguly for his logical approach to decision-making and recognized his role in continually contributing to the growth of the men’s game.
There was widespread welcome for the news. Cricket people view this development in terms of adding stability at the governing levels, but across all media, fans welcomed “Dada’s” return, hailing his ongoing role in guiding the sport ahead.
Under Ganguly’s steady hand again at the reins, men’s cricket appears poised to take its next step with confidence, but with care.
