Dr. Sandip Shah Appointed Chairperson of NABL to Drive Quality Standards in India

Dr. Sandip Shah, a distinguished leader in healthcare and diagnostics, has been appointed the Chairperson of the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL), under the auspices of the Quality Council of India (QCI). In this pivotal role, Dr. Shah is poised to drive NABL’s mission to enhance the standards of testing and calibration services in India, fostering greater consumer confidence and supporting global competitiveness.

A Gold Medalist in MD Pathology and Bacteriology from B.J. Medical College, Ahmedabad, Dr. Shah’s career spans over 35 years, marked by significant contributions to pathology, molecular biology, and transplant immunology. He is currently the Joint Managing Director at Neuberg Diagnostics and the founder of Neuberg Supratech Reference Laboratories. In addition, Dr. Shah serves as the Honorary Director at the Institute of Kidney Diseases and Research Center, further cementing his leadership in medical and diagnostic fields.

Dr. Shah succeeds Prof. Subbanna Ayyappan in this role, bringing an exceptional blend of experience and innovation. He is credited with pioneering India’s first Drive-through COVID testing center, which performed over 3,500 tests at a single location. His expertise has also led him to serve as a CAP Inspector and a visiting faculty member at IIM Ahmedabad, in addition to holding various mentorship roles at NABL, including as the Chair of the Medical Labs Accreditation Improvement Committee (MLAIC).

With Dr. Shah at the helm, NABL is set to continue its crucial work of accrediting laboratories, ensuring the integrity and precision of testing and calibration processes that are vital to consumer safety and industry excellence. His leadership will play a significant role in strengthening NABL’s services, helping to maintain high standards and improve India’s position in the global market.
