Sean Doyle is the CEO of British Airways , believes that artificial intelligence (AI) can make the airline industry much more effective. As we have seen, In an interview , Doyle talked about artificial intelligence that how it is becoming much more important for improving both customer experiences and how the company operates. For instance, AI can help speed up processes, making it faster and easier to help customers. From the point of Doyle, he sees AI as an equipment that can help customer service agents to solve complicated problems quickly, it allows them to provide better service without taking away any human touch. When people visit the airline they still want to meet with the real person and ai will definitely help these agents to do their jobs better.
Doyle also talked about AI’S potential that how it will work for improving operations. It will deal with efficiency from simulating network disruptions for improving recovery times after bad wheather-related challenges. Bristish Airways can run smoother operations by using machine learning which is a similar type of AI. Even after playing important role by AI, the airline will still need people to handel the physical works such as handling passengers and controlling aircrafts.
In some areas, British Airways has already started using AI. There is an example that how engineers use electronic logs to keep track of maintenance issue. These helps engineers to address problems faster, improving the health and dependability of the airline’s fleet which means that, planes can be maintained well and any issues will be solved before causing problems to passengers.
When interviewers asked Doyle, how much AI will cost the company , Doyle replied, instead of saving money, our focus is more on improving performance as the airline is investing £100 million on AI, specifically for improving the dependability of its planes and to provide better and faster customer service.
Overall, British Airways is modernizing its technology and services. The company is investing £7 billion for enhancing its technology and a major portion of this budget -approx £700 million— will be assigned to IT modernaisation. And again , Half if this IT budget will go for developing a new app website and apps while the other will be spent on improving airline operational systems , making it run more smoothly behind the scenes.
Doyle also highlighted India’s importance in British companany’s technologies plans . British Airways are collaborating with Indian technology providers like Tata Consultancy Services to help its transformation. He added, The British airline’s Engagement Centres in Noida and Gurgaon are at the most leading position of testing and experimenting with new technology, adding AI, which depicts how British Airways are committed to its innovation.
However, the airline will continue to depend on human existence like for physical works such as helping passengers and etc..Company has also highlighted India’s key role, playing in its transformational efforts.
In conclusion, doyle belives that Artificial intelligence will help more in bcoming more efficient and will improve both customer services and airline operations .
