Apple Expands Retail and Manufacturing Footprint in India
Apple has announced intentions to open four more retail locations in India as part of its increased commitment in the rapidly expanding Indian market. The tech giant is aiming to open new sites in Bengaluru, Pune, and the Delhi-NCR area in April 2023, in addition to perhaps opening a second store in Mumbai. This follows the introduction of its first two stores in Delhi and Mumbai in April 2023.
India is fast emerging as a key location for Apple’s manufacturing, since the company has confirmed that all of the iPhone 16 series, including the Pro and Pro Max versions, are made there. This choice highlights how important India is to Apple’s worldwide strategy, especially when it comes to diversifying its supply chain and making use of the skilled labour in the nation.
Apple’s Senior Vice President of Retail, Deirdre O’Brien, expressed excitement about growing their footprint in India. “We’re excited to strengthen our relationships with Indian customers and provide a distinctive Apple experience in our stores.” We’re excited to provide them more chances to check out our offerings and interact with our friendly staff’, she said.
Experts speculate that the reason for the growth is the existing stores in Delhi and Mumbai, which together account for more than 20 percent of Apple’s sales in India.
