Harini Kannan appointed as Country Head India at Assurant.!

Harini Kannan has been appointed as Country Head India at Assurant, strengthening the company’s leadership team as it continues to expand its presence and innovation capabilities in the Indian market.

With more than two decades of experience across insurance, reinsurance, underwriting, product innovation, and risk management, Harini brings a strong combination of industry expertise and strategic leadership to the role.
Before joining Assurant, she held several senior leadership positions at HDFC ERGO General Insurance, where she led portfolios spanning casualty, liability, specialty underwriting, corporate claims, and product innovation. Her work focused on building stronger risk frameworks while supporting evolving customer and business needs in a rapidly changing insurance landscape.

Earlier in her career, Harini spent more than 16 years with Swiss Re, leading agriculture and reinsurance businesses across India and the Asia-Pacific region. During this time, she developed deep expertise in parametric insurance, weather-index solutions, and innovative risk-transfer models designed to improve resilience across industries and communities.

Her appointment comes at a time when insurers are increasingly focusing on technology-driven risk solutions, customer-centric innovation, and scalable growth strategies. Harini’s experience across underwriting, claims, reinsurance, and product development positions her strongly to support Assurant’s next phase of growth in India.
